Philosophers insisted reason and experience are all we need to find truth?
Q. Do you think Thomas Aquinas would have agreed with this statement or not?
Asked by fonseca_mf - Mon Mar 19 18:15:13 2007 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Given that Thomas Aquinas became renowned for his rational approach to defining God, I am certain he felt reason and experience were neccessary to find the truth. However, the aspects that he attributes to God are ethereal in nature; such that they cannot be measured by even modern-day methods. Thus, I would suggest that Thomas Aquinas would insist upon adding faith to the list.

My husband insisted that I clean our waffle iron?
Q. Now it sticks. (Big surprize!) It was a gift, it is one of those fancy ones that you turn over and it cooks really nice belgian waffles. It was expensive and I wish I could get it to work nicely again. I tried putting oil in it and heating it, but that hasn't worked. Oh- it was really quite clean. I just usually would wipe off the sides and then brush off the inside where there could be a few crumbs. The problem is that when he insisted on soap and water (and won the argument) it caused the waffle iron to stick. Now my waffles wont come out in one piece! (Or even come out at all!)
Asked by niffer - Thu Sep 27 00:31:33 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It'll depend on what kind of waffle iron you have, but if it's teflon or another "non stick" surface, and you used a scouring pad, it's probably time to look for a new one. If it's supposed to be bare metal, put oil in it, heat it up and let it cook for a while, then wipe it out with paper towels. Spray it with cooking oil spray before cooking each waffle it until it starts working the way it should. Never clean a waffle iron while it's still hot. Good luck.

Should those who insisted fundamentals are strong, be included in repairing the economy?
Q. They have obviously categorized the situation poorly. Why would they know what to do now that the situation has become more critical?
Asked by Nanobama - Mon Sep 29 19:34:11 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No. Secretary Paulson, along with John McCain and President Bush, kept insisting that the fundamentals of our economy were strong as late as 2 and a half weeks ago. It would be incomprehensible to allow any of these officials pretend they are aware of the complexities of the current financial meltdown that they perpetrated via deregulation and "free markets".

Q. I took time out of my workday to go see my wife receive a huge award. I wanted to hug & congratulate her. She abruptly stopped me before I could hug her & insisted that this is her workplace and that a hug was unprofessional & would embarrass her. I was so upset, I left after shaking her hand.

You are husband and wife...If I went to hug and tell my wife how proud I was of her...and took off work to do it...and she "SHAKES" my hand...Hmmm...maybe it's just me...but professionalism takes a back seat to the one I'm sharing my life with. This is a crock of $hit! I wish you well my friend...and when you get a chance...please contact me and let me know how this BS turned out. I know this sounds full of "testosterone"...but I would be letting her know that there are a few rules in this marriage...#1...I will hug you or kiss you wherever I choose...end of story...Let me think...Hmmm...YES..."YOU " married each other!

What do you think of the judge who insisted a Muslim gal take off her face covering to could read truthfulness
Q. I think he was right; judges judge faces with great accuracy oftentimes, and how could he tell without a face at all to read? It'd be like the defendant was on a conference call or something!

A. judges should follow our supreme law, the constitution ...I think he had no constitutional right to make a Muslim woman remove her religious face covering...It is testimony and evidence that should be read not faces...If the judge is able to read faces he should use his "psychic abilities" in all cases and spare tax payers the expenses of trials based on evidence...I think this judge showed stupidity and arrogance which is another example of abuse of authority...I'd like to see the state that allowed such a thing to be sued for a civil rights violation

MIL insisted that babies will gain more weight if breastfeeding hurt. Does this make any sense?
Q. So one day she walked in while I was feeding my son and "repositioned" him so that it hurt, saying that the correct way to breastfeed was the painful way. It's a sacrifice that all mothers should make. To support this statement, she said that she had breastfed all her kids the painful way, and all of them had gained more than the average babies. How do I act on this without causing a rift?

A. tell her she raised her kids, now you are gonna raise yours. as long as the baby is feeding, its gaining the weight he needs.. what the hell does pain have to do with anything... your mil cant prove that they wouldnt have gained the same amount of weight had she had breastfed the non painfull way.

What would you do if one of your guy friends always insisted on you giving him a massage? ?
Q. i give good massages, so everytime i see one of my guy friends, he automatically pulls my hands to his neck in an attempt to coax me into giving him a massage. and if i do start to give him one, and i pull my hands away, he yanks them back. really, i don't want to give him massages as much as i used to, because we don't have fun the way we used to, (we used to joke around a lot) among other reasons. another reason is that it seems, sometimes, as though he only talks to me for that reason. what a friend huh? i know this is a silly question. also, we used to be kind of dirty without have sex with each other lol. but not anymore.
